Which are the best chat plugins to integrate WhatsApp into a website?

In this article we present you three widespread plugins you can use to integrate WhatsApp on any website, regardless of the CMS used (WordPress, Wix, PrestaShop, Magento etc …).

The three plugins we have chosen are Callbell, GetButton and WidgetWhats. Let’s see what are the pros and cons of these three tools.

Let’s start with our plugin: Callbell

Callbell’s chat plugin is a free tool that allows you to integrate various messaging apps, besides WhatsApp, on your website, like Facebook Messenger, Telegram and Instagram Direct.

Moreover, you can set a welcome message for you website visitors, customize the icon of your widget (even with an animated gif) and make it visible on both desktop and mobile.

If, in addition to WhatsApp, you also want to integrate Facebook Messenger into your chat widget, with Callbell your visitors will be able, from desktop, to chat in real time without having to abandon your site.

Callbell is also the first widget that allows you to integrate Instagram, and encourage to start a chat through Instagram Direct: if you want to know more, we recommend you read this article.

By doing so, you will be able to channel all the traffic generated by your website into the messaging channels most used by your target audience and establish an informal and long-term relationship with them.

Installation is very simple, but if you have any doubts, the Callbell team will always be available to provide customer assistance during the installation phase: simply start a conversation through our chat widget right here on our site.

You can install the plugin to integrate WhatsApp on your website by creating a free account from here.

GetButton

GetButton is a free plugin born from the merger with the old WhatsHelp, and never updated since. To create your own chat plugin and integrate GetButton on your website, simply go to the website and set up the different channels you wish to integrate.

Also in this case you can integrate other messaging apps in addition to WhatsApp. However, the integration of more than 2 channels involves the payment of a subscription plan on an annual basis.

GetButton allows you to integrate Messenger (but only to leave a message on the page), Viber, WeChat and many other appls which are famous mainly in Russia (where GetButton was probably developed).

Although the plugin works properly, GetButton does not provide any kind of support and right now it doesn’t seem possible to contact their team in any way.

Plus, it is not even possible to preview the plugin even on their website, which makes it impossible to check how your visitors will see the chat widget.

Moreover, since the widget is not linked to an account, in order make a change to the widget you will have to to create a new one and then uninstall and reinstall the plugin from scratch.

WidgetWhats

WidgetWhats is a specific plugin to integrate WhatsApp; it is not possible to choose different channels, like in the case of Callbell or Whatshelp.

This tool allows you to set up in the widget different agents who can be contacted on different WhatsApp support numbers: this feature allows you to sort incoming chats to different support agents, and can be very useful for those companies that receive significant volumes of incoming chats.

Although the design of this tool is not particularly attractive, it is possible to customize the WidgetWhats widget, change the chat color and even integrate a Facebook pixel to perform retargeting activities on visitors who clicked on the chat.

WidgetWhats integrates with the most popular CMS including WordPress, Magento and Shopify.

Join.chat (WordPress only)

This is a free plugin for WordPress that allows you to connect pages on a website with the WhatsApp profile of different support agents in one click. This allows you to add a mobile WhatsApp contact button directly to your site.

Join.chat offers a chatbot service specifically for physical stores, delivery, e-commerce, restaurants and bars. The software presents a single administration panel for Telegram and Viber messenger, eliminating the extra hassle of double work, thanks to the chatbot that you can configure.

The free version of Join.chat allows you to set up your own WhatsApp button and create conversation-starting messages. With the upgrade to the premium version, you can add more contact channels (such as Telegram, Facebook Messenger, FaceTime, Skype, and others), support agents, specify working hours, Extra CTAs to guide leads from caption to conversion, and integrate the chatbot.

How to install Callbell, GetButton, WidgetWhats and Join.chat on your website?

Installing WhatsApp on your website thanks to these three plugins is very easy. Both Callbell and Whatshelp and WidgetChats provide, at the end of the configuration process of the chat widget, a script that must be installed inside the section of the website.

For those less “tech-savvy”, you can use Google Tag Manager. In this case, it is necessary to create a new Tag, copy and paste the script provided and insert the trigger “all pages”.

Once saved and published, your widget will be live on your website.Don’t forget that if the visitor is a desktop user, the WhatsApp icon will open the WhatsApp Web app: if the visitor has already configured WhatsApp Web he can immediately start chatting; otherwise he must first synch the web version of WhatsApp by scanning the QR code that appears once the page is opened.

Our CRM will collect all incoming chats from the Callbell widget, allowing you to manage structured conversations. Within Callbell you can invite a team dedicated to sales or customer support that will take care of responding to your users’ requests.

For any  plugin customization, you can contact the Callbell team at any time: we will try to do everything possible to help you configure your widget and immediately start chatting with your customers.
